Background

Duc Nguyen, M.D., is an orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in a variety of hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder conditions affecting children and adults. He specializes in treating patients with arthritis, dislocations, fractures, stiffness and other problems in the joints of the arm and hand, as well as biceps and triceps injuries. He is experienced in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and other surgical techniques.

Dr. Nguyen believes in partnering with patients to help them understand their conditions and treatment options, so that together they can make an informed decision about the treatment plan. He focuses on evidence-based treatments, including cutting-edge surgical techniques, that help minimize impact on healthy tissues and improve recovery of function and return to activity.

An assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Nguyen completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and Ryder Trauma Center. He trained as a hand and upper extremity orthopaedic fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center under the mentorship of Mark Baratz and several other renowned faculty members.

Dr. Nguyen’s research interests include basilar thumb arthritis, wrist dislocations and instability, and wrist and upper extremity fractures.
